Product safety information for articles printed in PETG
Material description and properties:The products offered are products made using the 3D printing process from polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG). PETG is a resistant plastic characterized by high impact strength, flexibility and good chemical resistance. In addition, PETG has a higher temperature resistance than PLA and is less brittle.
Heat resistance and risk of deformation:PETG is more heat resistant than PLA, but can still soften and deform at temperatures above about 70–80 °C. Therefore, the products should not be permanently exposed to high temperatures. Use near open flames, direct sunlight for long periods of time or in dishwashers is not recommended.
Instructions for safe use:
- Store PETG items in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid direct contact with extreme heat sources.
- PETG is resistant to many chemicals, but not suitable for contact with strong solvents or aggressive chemicals.
- Due to the higher toughness, PETG can withstand more load than PLA, but mechanical overloading should be avoided.
Production process:PETG is produced by modifying PET (polyethylene terephthalate) with glycol, resulting in improved impact strength and printability. In the 3D printing process, PETG is used in the form of filaments, which are melted by heating in a nozzle and applied layer by layer to shape the desired OBJect.
Legal information:The articles printed in PETG comply with the essential requirements of the Product Safety Regulation. They are more resistant than PLA items, but not intended for safety-critical applications or direct contact with food and beverages unless certified.
